Uses of solar panels
-
Solar panels or the photovoltaic cells arrays utilize the renewable energy of the sun and collect the solar energy in an environmentally and clean manner. As per the contemporary science, the sun set free about 1000 watts of energy every second to a single square meter of Earth’s surface. And this large amount of energy released is sufficient for the human use. In this modern world, mankind has controlled energy coming from the sun with the help of solar panels. Even though the technology to transform the sunlight in electricity is in its early phases, scientists and researchers are working hard in order to introduce some better and new technologies to gain the sun’s energy.
These solar panels are featured with a treasure of uses and benefits, both for the world as well as the individuals. In economic terms, a solar panel offers the benefit to lower the expenses of electrical power. Talking in environmental way, solar panels have the ability to offer the mankind with cleaner and sustainable power, which will not offer any further destruction to the environment. The solar power also features the quality of reaching even the remotest of areas.
Today, the solar panels are being popularly used to heat water. The process not only saves energy but also money by reducing the electricity bills. No doubts, today these solar panels have become one of the clean, cheap and most effective renewable forms of energy.
It is often an inhibition in the minds of people about what are the effects of a cloudy weather or the clouds on the solar panels. The primary effect that clouds carry on the solar panels is that of making the panel less effective and efficient in the parts that face heavy clouds. The total power amount that the solar panel can offer is basically dependant on light level that they receive. In bright, full sunlight, the solar panels have the ability to get maximum possible light levels. Also, during the peak sunlight times, a solar panel can provide power at the maximum capacity possible. But when clouds made a layer umbrella covering the sun, the level of direct light gets reduced. However, this situation does not provide a complete stop to the power production.
It is not always a case that the effect of clouds on a solar panel will be depressing. The effects can be surprisingly good as well. When the sun changes its direction between clouds, the solar panels will receive direct sunlight along with the reflected light coming from those clouds. And this in turn will help the solar panel to consume more energy as compared to the energy that a panel can face on a cloudless day.
There are always some ways to meet this challenge of facing the effects of clouds:
- In case, there is a condition of facing clouds in afternoon time, but the morning is clear, it is wise to aim the solar panels a bit towards the east direction.
- To ensure the usage of a huge battery system in order to maximize the total amount of energy or power stored to be used when clouds arrive.
Such tricks are more practiced in the regions that face cloudy weather so that they can make use of their solar panels in the best possible manner.
