There is a cute scene in a familiar child cartoon movie where a certain young deer is bewildered by the odd actions and emotions of his friends. When a wise old owl explains that in the spring time, all the creatures of the forest become twitterpated with love, our young deer is determined to steer clear of whatever cupid may be aiming an arrow at him.

Inevitably, our young deer friend is smitten by a beautifully, wide-eyed doe and the rest is history.

While the phrase may have been coined decades ago, it has been redefined over the past few years by another woodland creature. A bright blue sparrow-like bird now claims his twitter home and symbolizes apps and feeds that lead to the main page of a website that feeds on our curious nature and need to know.

The idea behind a twitter home page is that it removes all the clutter and visual and auditory muck that clutters up other social network pages. The concept of twitter is actually quite simple, and only asks users one question – What Are You Doing?

The phenomenon of twitter was resulted in a real time media and news forum. You could learn about what is going on with pop culture as soon as it is happening. You could get the scoop on the latest reality TV winner or discuss a season of your favorite TV show.

A large number of users on twitter use the site to network and market themselves or their business or product. This can be a fruitful tool because you can subscribe to leading businesses in your industry or follow the movers and shakers in your field. Rubbing elbows has never been so easy and accessible. At what other time in history can the new guy in the mail room follow the thoughts and hob knob with the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. There are definite advantages to be had by being an active member of a twitter community.

To be sure, the uses and instant updates that appear next to a cheerful little blue bird are as varied as every we our. But as different or unique as we all may be, we hold one thing in common.
