The Trick to Making Money

Ever since I was a little girl I have never had a problem making money. I think that as long as someone is motivated to do something and actually follows through, reaching a goal is not a problem at all. My parents always taught me that when I wanted something I had to work for it so that is what I did. When I wanted money I asked them what I could do to earn it.

I began making money when I was super young because I got an allowance every week. My mom and dad were not the type of parents who just gave allowance away every week. No, making money was something I actually had to work for. I had a list of chores I had to do before I got my allowance. If I decided not to do my chores then I did not get an allowance. It was as simple as that. Every Sunday, I had to take the initiative to walk through the house with my mom and have her examine every room of the house to make sure I had done my appointed chores. After our walk through, if the house was cleaned to her satisfaction then I was given my allowance.

During high school I started making money by being a life guard and swimming instructor on the weekends. I was not getting paid very much, so I decided that I was going to be initiative and try to give some private swimming lessons for a much higher price. I advertised myself and was surprised with the amount of families who called me! Making money had never been so easy. I was sixteen-years old and making 15 dollars an hour. That may not seem like much now, but to me as a teenager that was a fortune. Not only that but I absolutely loved giving private swimming lessons. I got to know all of the families and kids on a very personal basis, make my own lessons, and set my own schedule. And this whole time I was making money!

When I went off to college I could not continue teaching swimming lessons because I no longer had access to a pool, but I knew I needed to be making money somehow. One of my friends worked in the food court on campus so I decided to apply for a job there. I got the job immediately and started making money working on campus the very next week. I was very fortunate because I loved this job as well. I had a lot of amazing co-workers, my boss was super nice, and I got to decide my schedule since my job had to work around my school schedule. I liked this job so much that making money here was not hard at all.

When I graduated from college I did not have a job for the summer afterwards. I could no longer be making money at the food court since I was no longer a student. So, I advertised myself online to try making money nannying. Well, I found a really awesome family with two boys who needed a summer nanny and so I spent the summer taking care of two boys which was super easy. Once again, making money was not difficult at all.

So, if you are having a hard time making money, try taking a little initiative. Get yourself motivated, advertise your skills, and get out there and start making money!
