Shopping Today

Whether we like it or not, shopping is something that is necessary for most humans to live in today’s world. No longer are the days of growing your own crops, sewing your own clothes, and butchering your own cow. Nope; nowadays all of that stuff is done for you. All you have to do to get it is have some money and go shopping.

It is crazy to think that at one time in the history of humans, shopping did not exist. Once humans realized they could benefit from something they could not create themselves, trading began which would ultimately lead to shopping. One item of value would be traded for another and both parties would benefit. But, I suppose sometimes one group of people had something of value that another group wanted, but the group that wanted the item did not have something the other group wanted in return. Why would the first group of people make a trade if they did not want anything the others had to offer? In this situation, I am sure it would suck to be the group that really wanted the item but were denied it because they could not offer anything the other group wanted. I know that is confusing; I hope you can make sense of it.

Anyways, I am sure that happened quite frequently and posed a dilemma for all sorts of people. So, someone who must have been pretty smart invented money. With money, now shopping could occur! Since money is always of value and always desired, you could always buy what you wanted as long as you had the right amount of money.

Today, we can go shopping for just about anything. No longer is shopping necessary for the basic, simple elements we need to live our life. Nope, shopping for many people is a hobby. Oftentimes we find ourselves going shopping when we don’t even need anything in particular!

I am a fan of shopping myself and I will often go to the mall or Wal-Mart just for the fun of it. I do not need anything in particular but most of the time I find myself spending quite a bit of money on things I do not even need!

But, even for those people who hate shopping, it is something most of them must do. Unless they own their own farm, all food is purchased by going to the local grocery store or Wal-Mart. Going to the store for  clothing is also necessary, especially when you go to work every day and must look presentable. Also, it is more and more necessary to be up-to date with all the new electronics in order to function in the world of work today. So, going shopping for a new cell phone or laptop every couple of years is necessary as well. 

Another reason so many people shop is because gifts are expected for weddings, babies, birthdays, and holidays. Children are constantly wanting new toys, teenagers new clothes, and college students new gadgets. In order to meet the needs and demands of your loved ones you often must go shopping.

So, regardless of how you might feel about it, it is pretty difficult to escape the joys, trials, and tribulations of shopping. Take my advice and, if you have not already, accept it as something you will be doing throughout the rest of your life!
