Self Storage Hardware Can Save Space

Self Storage — By on April 21, 2009 8:16 am

When I talk to customers on the phone regarding their need for self storage people often ask me what size they would need in order to store their belongings. Naturally I would ask them what they would be storing in order to narrow down the size they were looking for. When it comes to a self storage unit, not only does the length and width matter, we also talk about the height. How high can the caller stack their belongings? The higher they can stack their belongings, they more money they can save.

Shelving can be an important self storage hardware piece since it can be very important to saving some money. The customer can stack their belongings on shelves and go higher and higher, well as high as the ceilings are. Depending on what they are actually storing, the customers can potentially put a two bedroom apartment in a space in which a one bedroom space would usually fit. Some companies brag about having ceilings as high as 12 ft tall.

I think it is very important for the manager on the call to tell the caller how to stack their belongings or explain to the caller when they come down for a visit. It is known that companies want people to store as long as they can in order to get the company more money. Helping a customer get their belongings into a space that is smaller than what they thought and that could save them some money, might keep the customer at that facility longer. Having good shelving in your self storage hardware listing might be important when you are trying to rent spaces. Helping the caller reach higher heights can help the facility get a long term customer.
