I absolutely love it when facilities offer a self storage coupon as a promotion, and I will tell you why:

A lot of the time, callers find it difficult to believe that particular companies are offering the specials that we advertise.  Take, for example, a special in which callers are offered two months for the price of one; offered the first three months at half of the normal rate; offered three months free when they prepay for their initial three months.  Pondering these specials, callers will usually question whether or not you are trying to trick them or trying to rope them into a commitment they would not otherwise make.  Though our representatives can usually overcome this sort of suspicion, it usually ads a bit of friction to the conversation.

With a self storage coupon, though, callers are absolutely confident in their ability to make good of the offer.  When a caller has tangible proof that he/she will receive the special they have seen, his/her questions usually center on specific details (e.g. “What does this mean?  Do I have to make a commitment of X months to receive special Yes?  No?  Great!”)  If we, the call center, are unaware of the coupon the customer is asking about, we can simply implore the caller to bring his/her coupon into the store when she signs her paperwork.  There is not much of an objection to overcome here; no inherent suspicion, really.  When the customer can physically hold her discount, she feels much more confident.
