Local Yacht Storage Stories
Self Storage — By Shopping Blogs on April 18, 2009 7:24 amDave was in a somber mood. His glance was downcast and the wrinkles that layered upon his forehead hinted at the heightened emotional anxiety that was going through him as the turned the key in the big, steel lock on the door that protected his late fathers prized possession. His father was an avid yacht enthusiast. He had spent much of his life pursuing the finer things that money could buy, including several sailboats and yachts that he eventually traded in to purchase his ultimate sailing machine, a twenty seven foot yacht that practically oozed wealth and status. The interesting thing was that Daves father was not a wealthy man. On the contrary, Daves father had gone into considerable debt to make it seem as if her were a wealthy man, where yachts and limo rides were the norm, when in fact they were a very expensive exception.
After the shock and grief of his fathers unexpected passing over a month ago, Dave knew that it was time to begin to go through his fathers accounts, settle the debts that had accrued, sell the yacht and return the money to his mother in hopes that she could sustain herself for a while. The local yacht storage was silent. The sound of the huge metal door rolling up broke the silence with a thunderous roar. Dave laid eyes on his fathers delight. Indeed, the yacht was beautiful, and exquisitely well maintained. Dave knew that the yacht had brought pride to his fathers life, though he did not truly understand his fathers motivations. Why buy something so expensive when there are so many more practical things to purchase that would actually help his family survive?
A car pulled into the local yacht storage parking lot. A man in a business suit got out and began walking over to shake Daves hand. This man was going to assist Dave in selling the yacht for the highest amount. Even though Dave had never agreed with his father about the yacht, he still felt a burning sensation on the back of his neck as he envisioned how hurt and sad his father would be if he knew that the yacht was being sold. With that thought, he looked up to the sky and saw a red tailed hawk, flying low. The bird was beautiful. In its grace, it landed, remarkably, on the mast of the yacht. It sat there for a moment, watching Dave with curious eyes. Then just as suddenly, it took off in flight again, soaring effortlessly through the sky. Dave took that as a sign from his father that he was doing the right thing as he greeted the man in the business suit.
