Is An MBA Right For You?

It may seem tempting, taking the quick way out of college and graduating with your associates degree. However, the diploma may not be worth the paper it is written on and certainly not the thousands of dollars you spent earning it. The truth is that if an employer were looking at a resume with little experience but an Associated Degree versus a resume with no degree but years of experience, the employer may be very likely to pass right over the educated applicant and select the applicant that has proven they have knowledge in the position or industry.

But do not drop out of school just yet. An MBA degree is a powerful three-letter word for any resume and can make the difference of an extra zero at the end of your salary. Most management level positions and any executive position require that the applicant hold a Maters of Business Administration.

It is very important that you find the right school that is going to help you achieve your MBA . Unfortunately, not every school is going to give you the option of continuing with your schooling after you receive your Bachelors degree. For the great colleges and universities out there, they will check to see if you meet the requirements to move on to the next level. Most colleges are looking for the students at the top of their class in order to give access to the information need to receive your MBA .

When studying to receive your M.B.A. the college will typically have you focus your areas of focus in marketing, accounting, human resources, operations management, etc. If you study all of these different areas or just a couple, you will keep your options open when you graduate. It is always good to know that when you graduate you have a great chance of being hired due to your commitment of time. For those students who decide to stop at their Associates degree or even their bachelor degree, they might get passed over for a job to give the person with the higher degree the job.

There are a couple of different types of MBA programs out there for you:

• Two Year Program. This program allows those people who have already had real life experience in the field to continue their learning.
• Accelerated Two Year Program. This is very similar to the regular two year program but there are more exams and less downtown. They are trying to cram more information and test you more than the other program.
• Part Time Program. With this program, you will see potential students come in to school at night to learn, after they had a full day of work. This is a good program that allows people to continue learning while they are on the job.
• Executive Part Time Program. With this program, you will be educated on all the information that executives of different business would know. So not only will you stay working, you will be held to the standards of an executive in your field.

Decide early what degree is best for you. Then get to work trying to obtain your hard earned degree. There are other options out there for people who want the great job a Masters degree can offer, but school may not be for them.

There are a few trades that do not require an MBA but rather an apprenticeship. Careers like these require a new starter to go through a program and mentorship with a certified tradesman. Some of these careers include Electricians, Welders, Mechanics, Ironworkers, Sheet metal. Masonry and Bricklayers and more. Apprentices who complete such training can command a high wage in their trade because they are considered to be highly skilled.
