Importance of Sports Gear

The sun beats down on you as you hurry to your seat, pushing past crowds of people in order to get to your seat in time to see the first pitch. Music blares from the speakers and excited fans crowd around each other as they talk excitedly about the upcoming game. The smell of popcorn and hotdogs lingers in the air and makes your stomach rumble. You run past all of the vendors and stores where bats, hats, and other sports gear are being sold. You think you will go back later and purchase some sports gear from your favorite team. When you get to your seat you will immediately flag down the beer guy and when there is a break in the game you will grab some nachos from one of the food booths. Your heart pounds in excitement as the pitcher winds up for the first pitch. He pitches and the bat strikes the ball with a sharp crack. Half of the crowd rises to their feet and starts cheering as the ball soars past all of the dumbstruck players while the other half of the crowd groans in disappointment. The ball is out of the park and your team already has their first run! You sit down in contentment, ready to enjoy the rest of the game when you begin thinking about all of the sports gear that is necessary to make all of the sports you love happen.

Without sports gear most sports would not be possible. Baseball does not require a ton of sports gear, but it needs all of the sports gear that it uses. All of the players are in outfits specifically designed to play baseball. They have baseball hats to shield their eyes from the sun, cleats to help them run and slide without falling, a cup to protect them from very painful injuries, a glove to help them catch the ball, and cottony breathable fabric so they do not get too overheated. When a player goes up to bat they are also equipped with the proper sports gear. They have a helmet in case the ball happens to hit them in the head and a bat with which to hit the ball. The catcher behind the batter is also equipped in full body sports gear which consists of a padded body guard to protect them from a wild ball and a helmet in case the ball heads towards their head. Bases are more sports gear necessary for baseball and they lay in their designated spots all over the field. Without sports gear, baseball would not be possible.

There are very few sports that do not require some sort of gear. Most players of any sport are required to wear a certain type of sports gear and most of the sports require gear in order to actually make the game happen. For example, hockey players need sticks, pucks and a hockey ring, football players need a football field, a ball, and lots of protective equipment, while swimmers need sports gear such as race suits, swimming caps, goggles, and a 50 meter pool to swim in. All of these different sports require numerous kinds of gear in order to happen. Sports gear is just as important to sports playing as the players are.
