You need to locate a local yacht storage facility as you can hardly use your driveway or the space elsewhere on your property to park your yacht during off season. Possibly local ordinances or your local municipal laws may not allow you to store yachts on your premises. However, many yacht enthusiasts may not have large premises for the purpose and will have no choice than to locate a convenient local yacht storage facility.

Yachts need to be stored securely and out of water to prevent damage, and what better place than your local yacht storage facility. This is a perfect solution to your parking problem.

    Storing Options
Different local yacht storage facilities offer different storing options. Some offer inside storing options and others space to store your yacht outside. You have the choice depending on your requirements, money being the least of reasons. Yachts are expensive to buy, and the rental for storing them should hardly be an issue, especially where safety and security is concerned.

However, using inside storing space in your local yacht storage facility, if they do have such arrangements, is a perfect option as it will prevent damage from

    • High temperatures that can be harsh on your yacht
    • Snow, sleet, and heavy rains
    • High winds
    • Subzero temperature and conditions

Most local yacht storage facilities may have inside and outside storing arrangements for yachts, but some may have constraints in providing inside facilities for larger yachts. You will need to check with your local yacht storage facility to see whether the doors are wide enough to accommodate your yacht. You will also need to check the height of the door and whether it will fit into the bay provided for the purpose.

If all these feature in your local yacht storage facility suits you and your yacht, it is a better option to go for inside storing. It protects your yacht from the inclement weather. Some storing facilities offer heated inside storing. The advantage is that you may not require winterizing your yacht prior to storing it.

If you feel high rental is an issue, you can consider storing your yacht outside in your local yacht storage facility. You will need to winterize your yacht. Check with the storing facility what other services they offer. Depending on the facility you choose, they may offer the following, among others

    • Docking and launching services
    • Repairing osmotic blisters
    • Welding, where required
    • Gloss finishing
    • High pressure power washing
    • Winterizing

All these extra services will add to your monthly rental. Inside storing will cost more, and if you opt for inside heated storing feature the storing cost will be more expensive. Opting for individual bay will further add to the already high cost.

    Security
Yachts are expensive items and you need to ensure that your yacht is well secured in the storing facility. Check to see what type of security systems are in place before you decide on the local yacht storage facility for storing your yacht.
