There are people who like to shop and then there are people who love to shop. I’m talking about the people who frequent the most famous stores and shopping centers from New York to Chicago to LA and even overseas.

If you consider yourself a serious shopper (or you aspire to be one someday), here are some of the most popular and iconic shopping streets in the world.

Fifth Avenue – Location: NYC, NY

This street is located in midtown Manhattan and has a reputation as being one of the most expensive streets in the world. Some serious shopping takes place on that street every day with people from around the world coming to check it out. Global chains are interested in setting up shop on this famous street because of its fame and prime location.

Michigan Ave. – Location: Chicago, IL

Michigan Avenue is the home of some of the most upscale and expensive stores and shopping centers in all of Chicago. The famous Water Tower Place is a huge shopping center located near the heart of the “Magnificent Mile”. The popular Westin Hotel and Spa is located on that street and it’s the home of the award winning Grill on the Alley restaurant.

Rodeo Drive – Location: Beverly Hills, CA

Versace, Chanel, Fendi, and Dolce & Gabbana are three of the most popular and expensive designer names and each one is available on Rodeo Drive. It’s a regular occurrence to come across models, actors and athletes getting some shopping done and walking by some expensive sports cars parked on the street. The buildings and hotels in the area have been in a lot of different movies and music videos because it is such a stunning location. There are some superb restaurants to experience as well – from Mr. Chows to Nate N’ All Delicatessen.

Champs-Elysees – Location: Paris, France

This street has possibly been in more movies than Rodeo Drive and it’s a very popular tourist attraction and shopping center. The street leads you to the Arc de Triomphe. Shoppers can pick up the latest fashion designs from Dolce & Gabbana, H&M and Abercrombie & Fitch. There are a number of bars and restaurants located close nearby so you can spend an entire day out there and then party into the night.

Bond Street – Location: London, Ireland

When you’re in London looking to shop the name is “Bond.” That’s the spot for jewelry, art work, fine cuisine and fashion. You will find chains like Donna Karan New York, Burberry, Boodles and Chaumet Paris, just to name a few.

These are just a handful of locations around the world where serious shopping is done. If you consider yourself to be a serious shopper but you haven’t been able to visit these locations yet mark them down on your to-do list and plan to make the trip one day.

Consumers and tourists spend millions of dollars on these streets and the stores that are located on them spend big dollars for the property. And the high-end shopping scene continues to flourish despite the economic struggles we continue to endure.

When you live in Chicago or are looking to move there to attend school, rest assured that you have plenty of options. There are dozens of colleges, universities, technical schools, and other places for higher education in the Chicago metropolitan area. The best one for you will depend on what you want to study, how much you can spend, and what academic atmosphere you desire.

University of Chicago
The most prestigious school in the city is the University of Chicago, which was founded in 1890 and is a world-class research college. The school has an enrollment of more than 15,000 and offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees in a wide variety of fields. It is consistently one of the top-ranked schools in the annual U.S. News and World Report rankings.

Northwestern University
Although it is technically in Evanston, Illinois, this suburb is just north of Chicago and is still very close to the Windy City. It is a very selective private school with an enrollment just shy of 20,000 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. This school is an ideal option for athletes as well because it is part of the Big Ten athletic conference.

Illinois Institute of Technology
Budding scientists and engineers will enjoy studying at the Illinois Institute of Technology. This school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in many subjects, but specializes in math, science, engineering, architecture, and related areas. This school is a great choice if you want to be near downtown because it is located just three miles from the center of downtown Chicago and is across the street from the White Sox baseball stadium.

DePaul University
This is the largest Catholic university in the United States, with more than 25,000 students enrolled in its six campuses scattered throughout the Chicago area. It is also one of the 10 largest private universities in the country overall. DePaul University has strong programs in commerce, music, law, and education, just to name a few of the nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate programs of study.

Roosevelt University
This university is home to six colleges, each with a different focus. One of particular interest is the Chicago College of Performing Arts, which has exceptional programs in theater and music that boast an enrollment of 600 students. The other colleges include education, arts and sciences, pharmacy, professional studies, and business. Roosevelt University has two campuses, one in the city and another just outside of Chicago for students who prefer a suburban location.

School of the Art Institute of Chicago
Known as SAIC, this school has some of the strongest programs in the arts available in Chicago. It is a small institution, with just 2,500 undergraduate students and less than 800 graduate students. Although its majors are all in the arts, it takes a liberal arts approach to study and requires students to take courses in other fields to support their development as artists. Most undergraduates earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, many with a focus in writing, art history, or art education.

Which Type? The general rule of shipping dictates that if you have the money, your package can arrive as fast as you want it to. Unfortunately, it’s a little pricey. If you’ve waited until the last minute, even if unintentionally, spending the extra dollars to spring for expedited or overnight shipping is your best bet. Worldwide express shipping can have your package to you much faster than standard shipping, usually in 2-3 business days. Overnight shipping is the most expensive, but will assure that your package arrives, well, overnight. Though the price is higher, so is the priority, which means you’ll have your package arrive before you can say, “I meant to order these earmuffs for Grandma three weeks ago.

How to Ship Items: If you’re not on the receiving end of packages, you have the luxury of getting items out the door, and then holding the responsibility that they arrive in good working order. The key to shipping fragile items, say fine china — or snow globes, for winter’s sake — is to pack them tightly. If it has room to move, it has room to break. One post office saying is, “If you can shake it, we can break it.” Start by wrapping the show globe in small bubble wrap. “Diets” our entire world seems to revolve around this word today. Researches suggest that most American adults have tried one kind of diet or other to decrease or increase weight during their lifetime. Most commonly people resort to diets for weight loss. Most of the quick weight-loss routines do not work and even if they do, their effect is short-term. If you have not already guessed it, that range represents your credit score. The higher your credit score, the more financing opportunities you will have. You will not only have more options, but you will have better options with lower interest rates, lower down payments, more negotiable terms and the like.

If you already knew what those numbers represented, chances are you have recently said to yourself, “Man! I need to clean my credit report up.” Before you become frustrated or feel defeated, take heart in the fact that you have educated yourself enough to learn what you must do.

Esa estrategia sólo comenzó a mostrárseme con otros matices y otra facilidad el día en que noté la verdadera falta que tienen de ser guiados muchos de nuestros clientes, incluidos aquellos que se consideran muy al tanto del funcionamiento del negocio y con la habilidad de sacar la información deseada antes de que el vendedor siquiera haya conseguido saludarlos.

En realidad se necesitan muy pocos días trabajando como representante de ventas para notar lo mal informado que, a pesar de la mejor voluntad, suelen quedar aquellos clientes. Storage Issue or People Issue

Whenever I watch home improvement television shows on channels like TLC, Discovery, and Home and Garden channel, the biggest dilemma is storage . Everybody on these shows wants more storage space. And it doesn’t matter how much existing storage space they currently have. They may have existing closets that are the size of a one bedroom apartment; they may a walk in kitchen pantry with enough space to park a SUV. But they still complain that they need more storage.

A few years ago, my wife and I moved from a home that had barley enough space for shoe storage . My kitchen was so small that it could only fit a college dorm refrigerator. The bedrooms had room for one suit and a sweater. The previous owner used a beautiful sunroom as an outdoor storage shed. We preferred beauty over clutter so we didn’t keep anything for storage. This was fine because we didn’t need much. Though our house was small, we loved it.

However, when we were looking for a new home, the top of our must have list was storage. And we wanted to make up for lost storage time. For a house to be considered an option, it had to have huge walk in closet storage, kitchen pantry storage, basement storage, and attic storage. We were tired of our cramped lifestyle. Our simple requests were not a problem. Every house built in the last decade was designed for the modern pact rat. It’s true that American’s are growing, but in more ways then waist size. Houses are growing at the same pace as our consumer needs grow.

The house we bought had plenty of storage ; actually, too much storage . We had so much storage space that some of it remained empty. But that was a few years ago. Somehow our possessions multiplied and we are getting closer and closer to using up all of our storage space. It’s running out faster than the world is running out of oil. Our kitchen pantry can’t hold all of our food storage; it is spilling into the garage. Our huge walk in closet has become my wife’s walk in closet. I have to use a guest room closet for my shoe storage and clothing storage. My car use to fit in the garage but now it sits in the driveway. I use to thing that our house was shrinking, but reality hit me that we just have too much stuff. When we first moved in we had rooms without furniture. Now furniture storage has taken over my workshop.

I use to watch these home improvement television shows and wonder how these people’s houses became so cluttered with junk storage. Didn’t they see it coming? Didn’t they ever look around their house and say I have enough stuff, I need to stop shopping? Didn’t they? No. They didn’t. I can speak for them because I am one of them. Lack of storage is not the problem. A person over consuming is the problem.

Nuestro director incentivo a los trabajadores para que se queden a pasar la noche en las instalaciones de PhoneSmart, así mismo reservo habitaciones en el hotel más cercano para que todos los trabajadores que decidan quedarse a pasar la noche estén cómodos. También brindo provisiones de comida y bebidas para los trabajadores. La idea de permanecer en las instalaciones de Phone Smart fue primeramente por seguridad, para que los trabajadores estén en un lugar seguro y no estén manejando en esas malas condiciones del clima, así como también si las condiciones se empeoraban en la noche con seguridad podríamos atender a nuestros clientes en la mañana de hoy, estuvo prevista una fuerte tormenta con acumulación de 3/4 hinches de hielo, fueron tres las trabajadoras las que permanecieron en las instalaciones de PhoneSmart, y a ellas les agradecemos su dedicación por que así nuestro servicio no fue interrumpido, tenemos clientes en diferentes estados del país que no están atravesando un mal clima y necesitan nuestros servicios.

El primer día del año

EL día de hoy recibí una llamada aquí en Self Storage de un cliente que necesita un storage para el primero de Enero del 2008, escuche 2008 y sonó muy lejano, pero realmente solo faltan días para el 2008, lo cierto es que este cliente necesita mudarse el primero de enero, él estaba bastante desalentado por que tenia que mudarse justo el primer día del año, cuando todas las personas están reunidos con familiares y amigos celebrando la llegada del nuevo año el tenia que mudarse, lo que le recomendé a este cliente es que rente un Storage lo antes posible, que no espere hasta el ultimo momento, el se beneficiaria haciendo esto por que le daríamos un especial que se mudaría por un dólar por el resto de este mes, y también tendría el storage disponible para que vaya guardando algunas cosas, y su mudanza el primer día del año seria muy fácil por que serian solo unas cuantas cosas las que tendrían que mudar; El cliente estuvo muy feliz con mi recomendación por que así podría celebrar la llegada del nuevo año como todas las demás personas.

Alguna vez has leído algún anuncio o aviso en español que ha sido traducido del idioma Ingles, Me ha pasado muchas veces que he tenido que leer anuncios y pensar que es lo que tratan de decir por que estos han sido traducidos del idioma Ingles probablemente por personas que no hablan el idioma español, lo que hacen estas personas es usar los programas de traducción de Internet, pero estos programas traducen las palabras pero como en todos los idiomas una palabra puede tener muchos significados de acuerdo al contexto, hace unos leí un anuncio de una compañía de Storage que anunciaba acerca de Storage y camiones de mudanza y esta anunciaba “Locales y Unidireccionales” tuve que detenerme y pensar que es lo que trataban de decir, esto fue traducido del idioma Ingles “Local y one way” la traducción correcta seria para uso local y de una sola dirección o de una sola vía. Otra traducción que llamo mi atención fue la de una tienda de ropa en un mall donde ponían “Hale la puerta” en lugar de ’Jale la puerta”. En lo que se refiere al negocio de Storage hay muchas palabras que si las tratamos de traducir usando los traductores de Internet no tienen sentido, así que si lee algo en español que no tiene sentido para usted, no se preocupe que usted no es el único que va a estar confundido.

However, independent from what norms or where, the ultimate responsibility of ethical conduct falls on the shoulders of executive leadership.

Even the smallest for profit organization is comprised of front line employees and management . Though the conduct of frontline worker is the first to be noticed by end users, the overall company reputation and organizational vision lies on those that are put in charge to conduct the leadership of the organization. Management personnel at all level bear the greatest responsibility to implement organizational ethics that are within the organizational vision.

Yet the buck does not stop with anyone but the top leadership person which usually translates into the ultimate responsibility on Chief Operating Officer. Any action taken by employees that would result in any negative outcome will be contributed to the CEO; with or without his / her permission or knowledge.

Ultimately, Chief Operating Officers are responsible for success or failure of an organization that will also include ethical or unethical conduct. The CEO compensations are justified based on the ability of those leaders to create and maintain organizations that are effective, efficient and profitable. Hence the responsibility of conduct is included in those efforts.

Cuando un cliente esta buscamos por un lugar donde guardar sus pertenencias, mayormente ellos están buscando quienes ofrece el mejor precio o el mejor especial, pero ellos no se dan cuenta que lo mas barato no siempre es lo mejor, pienso que lo más importante es si el lugar es conveniente, por que por alquilar un storage que es mas barato y tienen que conducir 30 millas al día, lo que no pagan en el alquiler del storage lo terminan pagando en la gasolina, cada vez que van a poner o sacar algo de su unidad, sobretodo ahora que los precios de la gasolina subieron, y posiblemente sigan subiendo, es muy importante alquilar un lugar que no este muy alejado, esto le ahorrara tiempo y dinero. Otra de las cosas muy importantes de averiguar cuando vayan a alquilar un storage es preguntar al representante exactamente donde se encuentra la unidad, si la unidad es de fácil acceso, si la unidad esta dentro del edificio, o si tiene que subir escaleras, normalmente las unidades que están en el segundo piso son más baratas que las de fácil acceso, pregunte siempre al representante si tienen ascensores, si ese espacio le conviene puede ahorrarse unos cuantos dólares.

Hence, knowledge management procedures have to researched and implemented in a way that would benefit the management personnel.

Nevertheless, there are certainly factors that impact the leadership but are out of the control of organizational leaders. Such factors may include internal and external social and cultural factors, economic and market conditions, as well as external national or international competition. The impact of factors that are out of the control of stakeholders can negatively impact the outcome of management leadership.

Ultimately, organizational desire to employ most suited management personnel is simply another strategy to enhance effectiveness, efficiency and profitability. El día de ayer tuve la oportunidad de realizar una llamada misteriosa (MYSTERY SHOP) a una compañía en New York esta persona que contesto el teléfono era de origen latino, al final de la llamada me pregunto de donde era por que reconoció mi acento latino, tuvimos una pequeña conversación al final de la llamada acerca de mi trabajo en PhoneSmart, le comente que a mí me gustaba mucho el trabajo que realizaba por que tengo la oportunidad de hablar con muchas personas de distintas nacionalidades, también le comente que las llamadas misteriosas que realizamos son una de las cosas que mas me gusta hacer.

La razón por la que me gusta realizar las llamadas misteriosas (MYSTERY SHOPS) es por que por que al final de la llamada podemos decirle quienes somos, que estamos llamando por PhoneSmart y que le acabamos de realizar una llamada misteriosa,(MYSTERY SHOP) luego le informamos que parte de la llamada la realizaron bien y que parte de la llamada necesitan mejorar y la mejor parte de todo esto es que le enseñamos como mejorar, les decimos que deben de cambiar y como lo deben cambiar. Son muchas las objeciones de los clientes, muchas veces cuando le preguntamos al cliente que reserve un storage por teléfono las frases más comunes que escuchas son: Tengo muchos lugares que llamar o tú eres el primer lugar que he llamado, una de las formas de responder a esta objeción son diciéndole al cliente que tu ya hiciste ese trabajo por ellos y que llamaste a todos las compañías de storage en tu área y que tu tienes el mejor precio, otra de las formas es decirles que esta bien que llamen a otras compañías storage pero cuando lo hagan que comparen el mismo tipo de unidad, por ejemplo si es una unidad de temperatura controlada, si esta en el primer piso, si tienen ascensores o tienen que subir por escaleras, también decirle que tienen que preguntar si tienen la misma seguridad que tu le has ofrecido como cámaras de video, puertas con alarmas, etc. Esta es una buena forma de hacer pensar al cliente dos veces antes de que tome una decisión, muchas veces te va a responder mejor vamos a reservarlo de una vez y la venta esta cerrada, otras veces te va a responder que te llama de vuelta, que va a intentar llamar, una vez que llame a las otras compañías y haga toda estas preguntas y compare con lo que nosotros le hemos ofrecido mas de las veces te va a llamar de vuelta y reservar la unidad.

However, it should be clear that end user input is simply an additional tool to increase effectiveness and efficiency rather than a mandatory concept. The end users feedback, no matter how valuable cannot be always the absolute guide because of many factors including self interest, lack of complete information as well as the ever changing business environment in terms of legal and competitive factors.

Ultimately, it is a simple judgment call to determine the value of implementing end user input. It will depend on many factors including particular industry, size of the entity, legal and competitive aspects as well as the potential consequences. Nevertheless, any input including those from end users may contain extremely valuable information and suggestions that help improve the final effectiveness and efficiency.

Sales is the career of honor

Wait a minute, I thought the Marines had the career with honor. Well yes they do, but I maintain the most honorable career is in sales. The world would still be in the stone age if it was not for the sales efforts of the first bronze smelters. I don’t know if you ever studied how difficult it is to turn bronze into a workable moldable substance. The first people who discovered the process had no idea of its significance. It took a sales person to realize you could create all kinds of tools that would help in agriculture. More and better crops would mean excess crops that the sales people could trade for other goods that the tribe needed. Cool new tools meant that the sales people could trade some of the cool new tools to other tribes for even more goods that were needed.

Do you think that Apple could sell any iphones if it weren’t for sales people? Sure the designers and the tech people need to get a tool or a toy right, but it is the sales department that makes the products fly off the shelves.

The bronze age sales people also saw that one could create powerful new weapons with bronze molding techniques. These new weapons came in handy when the sales people were unsuccessful creating trading relationships with other tribes and had to fight for territory, resources or honor. The sales people certainly tried to work a deal and set up mutually profitable trade routes. After all, prosperity always beats strife. Making money always beats murder and mayhem. But even back in the day of the first bronze smelting operations, there were times when you needed to call in the Marines to fight a battle. Of course the sales people in those days were selling bronze swords to the warriors of their day. If there is demand, sales people will be there.

Marketing for fun and profit

When I was a kid, I understood marketing to mean something completely different than what I understand the word marketing to mean today. I lived in Brooklyn, NY and all the food markets you needed where just around the corner and up the street. You had the butcher, the baker, the fish market, fruit market, the veggie market and the candy shop. So when you went food shopping, you said you were doing the “marketing”. When I first heard that some students majored in marketing in college, I thought it would be great fun to learn all the ins and outs of shopping for the freshest bargains at the local markets.

Later my bubble was burst when I found out marketing was the study and practice of making your business attractive to people. That did not sound nearly as fun as the marketing I liked to do. But I became interested in marketing anyway, because I was very impressed with businesses that dominated their marketplaces and with businesses that got you to buy stuff you really didn’t need. I was even more impressed with companies whose marketing got you to change your routines and your likes and dislikes to their delight and to their profitable advantage.

I am still a student of marketing. As the marketing chief of a self storage company and as the person responsible for marketing our sales support subsidiary, I am always looking for ways to become the obvious choice to the people who we can help with our offerings. Some people think that sales and marketing are two different pursuits. Some think marketing drives the sales department or that the sales department drives the marketing
efforts.

I happen to think that sales and marketing and advertising are all the same thing. I call the umbrella that holds them together Marketing. Whether you are advertising, doing marketing promotions or selling to prospects, you are marketing your company and yourself.

Getting ready for the speaking engagement.

Getting ready for a speaking engagement is a lot like getting ready for an athletic event or for a theatrical extravaganza. I generally know which topic I will be speaking about and have talked about or taught on the subject many times. I think about how my feelings on the topic of the speaking engagement have changed or stayed the same. I look for ways to tie current events into the subject matter. I look for interesting stories or humorous anecdotes that I can use during the speaking engagement. Sometimes I have a favorite that still works. Sometimes I want to try something new.

I also think a lot about who the audience is, what part of the country they are in and what their day to day concerns might be. One speaking engagement is not at all like the next speaking engagement. Even if I am asked to do a program I have done for others in the past, the audiences change, my outlook changes and the mood of “the times” change.

The night before the speaking engagement, I comb through my notes and slides, looking for ways to improve the material or to tailor it to the audience. I try to get some exercise and limber up before I get my rest. On the morning of the speaking engagement I get some more exercise and limbering and eat a good breakfast. I try to get to the location of the speaking engagement very early so I can scout out the surroundings, get a feel for the venue and check out the crowd.

I do some stretches to make sure my posture will be good and my energy will be vibrant. I do some vocal warm-ups so I can project well and so I do not trip over my words. I coordinate how the staging will work and go over the introduction the host will give. Then I mingle as much as I can until shortly before curtain time. Then I sit and relax a minute until the host gives me the nod and I know it is time to play ball. That’s when I take the field and make my best pitch.

Switching Gears

I did a little secret shopping in person the other day. I went into the office of a large national chain that does self storage rentals and moving equipment rentals. The person behind the desk was on the phone. I realized she was making a collection call. She was leaving a message for someone and sternly giving the standard, “you will be charged additional fees and your lock will be cut” speech. First I thought it was odd that she would leave a message that was so explicit. Can you imagine e how angry that customer would be if the message was played in front of friends or children? How embarrassing.

I acknowledged the nod she gave me as I wandered around looking at trailer hitches and boxes. Then another employee showed up behind the desk and asked if he could help me. I said I might need a storage space. He pointed at her and said, “She’ll help you.” After she hung up the phone, she maintained the same scowl she had while leaving the message and asked how she could help me. Put yourself in my place as a potential renter. I am not sure I like these people. They have not been very respectful so far. I told her I didn’t need it for a few weeks and she offered a free month if I would sign the lease now.

That sounded like a good deal for a self storage unit, but I honestly did not know if a real buyer would take the deal and accept the less than charming staff, or look elsewhere. There was another storage place across the street. So I went across the street to see what I could find across the street. Isn’t that what you would have done?

So if you are in the middle of being “bad cop”, you better be able to switch gears and become “good cop” in a hurry, or your new customers will go across the street.

Three dollar a gallon is probably here to stay.

I remember the good old days. Even after the oil embargo of the 1970s, I used to fill up the tank of my 1968 Volkswagen Beetle with $3.00. What does $3.00 a gallon gas mean? For one, it means I will have a lot fewer people ask me why I ride the city buds to work most days. It means I will be biking to work a lot more than I used to. And it also means that more people will think I am a nut when I take my 1970 Chevy Impala Convertible out for a spin. I think I get about 5 miles to the gallon.

It also means that the big energy producers will be creating enough revenue to shift their investments into clean and green power sources. It means the cost of doing so will start to “pencil out” for investors. It means consumers will flock to clean and green technology where it will save them a nickel or two.

We could be at a major threshold in our economy. This could be the birth of a whole new system based on solar, wind, geo-thermal, hydrogen and other new energy sources. We have seen these shifts before. Steam power, the internal combustion engine, and jet engines all changed our systems profoundly. On the other hand, it could mean we are just going to suffer with higher and higher costs of transportation, heating, cooling and construction while the planet continues to get dirtier and dirtier.

As far as our day to day livelihood goes, those of us in the property management world will find that location will become more important than ever. People will be less willing to travel distances on a regular basis. And we are going to have to find new and interesting ways to get people to travel to us. It might mean we experience longer lengths of stay as the cost of moving out of our properties will rise to the point where people will need a really good reason to move.

In the mean time, I am going to get my bicycle tuned up and go buy the deep discount transit card at the bus station. I guess I’ll be leaving my Impala in my storage unit a lot more than I’d like.

Is Pay Per Click dead?

The general opinion differs: some experts and practitioners point to the short term benefits of creating leads and sales through search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. Others point to the mere fact that in spite of its short term appeal to create sales and leads, pay per click has either been over done and outlived its purpose, or it is about to vanish as a viable long term solution.

Generally speaking it matters what the goals are in relation to the actions that needs to be taken. For instance, we would agree that for a start up with the need to create short term sales and revenue, pay per click maybe viable. However, we are not sure if it makes sense in the long term. Yes, we know what you think – if PPC is dead, why are the majority of online businesses are doing it? Well there is a good reason: mob mentality. You will be hard pressed to find any marketing and advertising company that is willing to put their reputation on the line by suggesting that PPC should not be considered a reliable source for leads, sales or revenue. In our opinion it is just an attempt to be PC.

There are several reasons why we at World Consulting Group believe that PPC has outlived its viability: first and foremost, is the lack of transparency. It is simple: contact Google with third party fraud detection data and ask them for a refund on those clicks that you suspect to be fraudulent. The answer that you will get is most likely to be negative and justified with some non tangible reasoning. Don’t get us wrong: Google is in business to make money and one should blame them for protection their “secrets”. But is it really viable for a business? Can you imagine traditional businesses not wanting to disclose their methodology?

The second reason as to why PPC will not be sustainable is because of fluctuation in cost. Yes that is not that uncommon in traditional business, but with PPC the advertisers are much more susceptible to frequent fluctuation which in turn may require either extensive labor or resources devotion or coping with the unpredictable cost. Some might argue that such argument is not valid because of functions such as daily caps, budget limits, and control of pay per click overall costs, however, the actual questions should be why do advertisers that are spending their resources should have to have such limitations?

Of course there are too many other reasons including the evolution of e-commerce, new media impact, higher ISP speeds, as well as user generated content that can interfere with the viability of PPC.

In our long experience, we are virtually certain that PPC will not be able to hold its ground unless some drastic changes are made. In our opinion Pay Per Action model such as those adopted by Snap.com are much more likely to be the prevalent and the future of advertising.

Nationalistic Research Tendency.

During my career as a business/political consultant I have noticed a particular common trade among my peers, which I would call “nationalistic research tendency”. Nationalistic research refers to the tendency of colleges and peers to limit their research to English speaking sources, thus having a limited view on other possibilities. This is issues has been address by Dr. Gotvaran in Tehran University publication. In his article Dr. Gotvaran cites several cases such as Mobile Exxon’s attempt to secure Iranian oil field, which failed because of their lack of their familiarity with local traditions. His survey research which was conducted with relevant Exxon executive illustrated that standard operation procedures prohibited the employment of additional consultants to assist in local matters.

This article is extremely relevant to business and political consultant everywhere. It illustrates that differentiation in specialty i.e. sources, traditions, cultural and religious issues, increases the need of third party involvement.

Dr. Gotvaran used a survey questioner to collect data: a total of 40 questions; 20 procedural questions, 20 specific questions. He sampled over 200 executives: 156 were directly involved in the project, 44 were general administrative managers. I believe that he selected the most appropriated method and achieved his goal of supporting his hypothesis,
