What Is The Value Of Accredited Engineering Technology SchoolsBy admin on January 8, 2010 | No Comments
Taking on a trade or finding a college is no light task. If you are looking specifically at engineering technology school , there are endless lists of technical schools, colleges and universities, career programs and more all vying for your interests and enrollment. Choosing the right one may feel like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack, but there are a few things you can do to help thresh out the chaff and find the worthwhile programs or universities.
To begin with, you should automatically cross off any programs and especially colleges that do not offer accredited courses. When you first enter the realm of looking into colleges and continued education, all these terms like pell grants, unsubsidized, FAFSA and accredited will be floating around on nearly every piece of literature and website you review. It may be overwhelming to feel like you have to learn a new language, but knowing what these terms mean is imperative to compare and contrast the pros and cons of different programs.
An accredited course means that the U.S. Department of Education or one of the many accreditation groups essentially gives their stamp of approval to the courses offered by the programs at a particular school. What this means to you, the student, is that you are less likely to be wasting your time and money on a class that will not benefit you. It also means that if you transfer to another school, that credit should also transfer with you.
If you had courses that were non-accredited, another institution may not accept those transcripts and you may be forced to repeat classes with an accredited institution. In the long run, finding an accredited program is essential to every program from engineering technology school to seminary.
Accredited engineering technology school courses will ensure that graduates are prepared for entry right into their field. Having a diploma from a reputable and accredited school will go a long way in moving your resume from the bottom of a pile to the top.
When you enter an engineering program, most require at a minimum a degree from an accredited engineering technology school or university program, and for good reason. In a career weighted by science, computing and technology, knowing your stuff is a matter of success or failure.
You should verify that any online engineering program displaying an accreditation label or claim. You can go to the U.S. Department of Education website and see a list of who they accredit and also find a list of other accreditation groups who list the programs they also accredit. It only takes a few moments to surf the web and verify that an online course under your consideration is truly accredited. It will also give you peace of mind as you go forth with your education and on to your career.
You should also make sure that an entire program and each course is accredited. Some programs may get a handful of accredited courses and mislead students into thinking an entire program has been approved and accredited. It is vital that if you are going into a career where you will be required to maintain a license, that the engineering technology school program you enroll in is fully accredited.
So resist the temptation that quick diplomas or cheap programs may advertise because in the long run, these only set you back even more money and time.

A Look at all the Different Engineering Schools
My best friend Allison wants to be an engineer. Currently, we are juniors in high school and she is constantly, all the time, obsessively, researching engineering schools. I want her to be happy wherever she goes but it does make me sad to see her so excited about engineering schools; it kind of makes me feel like she is not going to be sad to leave me when she does find that perfect school.
I think I’m also a little jealous. All of these different engineering schools look pretty cool and she has such a wide selection to choose from! I know that I am probably just going to be going to our state university because I am going into education and there is a good program for education there. Plus, it is so much cheaper to stay in state. But, not only does Allison’s family have money, she is also some sort of genius who will probably get into any school she decides to apply to. Not to mention the fact that she is a girl so she will probably have an even higher chance of getting in since engineering schools like having girls.
Allison says there are so many different factors to think about when looking at all of the different engineering schools. She first wants to see how well the school is ranked and how good its engineering program is. Then, she looks at the cost of tuition and the requirements to get in. If the school offers scholarships, she tries to see if she is eligible to apply for any of them. Then, she goes to look at the locations of the different engineering schools. She knows she would like to be somewhere close to the ocean where it is warm so that narrows down her search quite a bit. Finally, she looks at each of the engineering schools she likes as a whole. She researches what the campus life is like, how housing is set up, whether the campus looks pretty, and tons of other things. She has so many different things to think about as she researches all these different engineering schools!
For me, all the work Allison is putting into looking at these engineering schools would make my head spin! She is writing essay after essay for applications to the schools she is interested in. I don’t know how she does it with all the work they are giving us at school. Junior year in high school has been the hardest so far! But, Allison is so smart I guess it’s a piece of cake for her. She is throwing around names of schools like Harvard and Princeton and it is overwhelming for me just to listen to her!
Although the thought of Allison going off to one of these amazing, select, and prestigious engineering schools makes me sad (and a little jealous) I am also happy and excited for her. I know it is what she wants to do and I know it is going to make her happy. Although I will miss her when she is far away, most likely close to the ocean somewhere, I know that she will stay in touch with me and we will continue being best friends even though I am a big homebody and went to my state university. I just hope she eventually figures out which of these engineering schools she likes so she will stop being so busy now and hang out with me a little more!

Finding a School that Fits like a GloveBy admin on June 30, 2009 | No Comments
If you are trying to compare engineering schools, then you are going to have to take several factors into consideration. Indeed, different engineering schools are going to make different accommodations for their students. By doing a little bit of research ahead of time, you can guarantee that your school is going to match up with your own, unique academic needs and expectations. Fortunately, it is not hard to sit down and figure out precisely what your priorities are.
If you have taken a significant number of advanced placement courses in high school, then you are going to want to consider which engineering schools are going to accept your existing credits. While your advanced placement courses were, no doubt, beneficial in and of themselves, you should always try to find a school that is going to give you academic credit for all of your hard work. Fortunately, this part of the research process is not going to be very difficult. Look through the literature that your engineering schools have sent you. This literature, nine times out of ten, is going to contain all of the information that you are going to need regarding transfer credits and advanced placement credits. If you can find a school that will accept your advanced placement credits, then you are going to be able to avoid retaking courses that are not going to teach you anything new.
Of course, you are going to want to limit your engineering schools to those that promise to meet your social requirements as well. If, for example, you are looking for a decidedly academic institution, you can try to get your hands on post graduation success demographics. With these, you are going to be able to see precisely where students end up after they graduate. High concentrations of professional and graduate school placements are, of course, strong indicators of the best engineering schools .
Finally, you are going to want to make sure that your engineering schools are , at the end of the day, schools that specialize in engineering. If you know that engineering is going to be your academic focus, then you are not going to want to attend a school that does not have a reputable engineering program. The best engineering schools are going to devote a significant, often disproportionate amount of money to their engineering program. This, of course, is because they want to produce very specific academic results.
Comparing engineering schools can be tricky. As you conduct your research, though, you are going to find that great advice is always waiting around the next corner. If you are not having much luck with your search on your own, do not hesitate to consult a few guides on engineering schools . Indeed, several annual publications focus their efforts on direction engineering students to the schools that are going to be able to meet all of their needs. These guides are often available for free on the internet, although they are also available in printed form at your local library.
