Nationalistic Research Tendency.
During my career as a business/political consultant I have noticed a particular common trade among my peers, which I would call "nationalistic research tendency". Nationalistic research refers to the tendency of colleges and peers to limit their research to English speaking sources, thus having a limited view on other possibilities. This is issues has been address by Dr. Gotvaran in Tehran University publication. In his article Dr. Gotvaran cites several cases such as Mobile Exxon's attempt to secure Iranian oil field, which failed because of their lack of their familiarity with local traditions. His survey research which was conducted with relevant Exxon executive illustrated that standard operation procedures prohibited the employment of additional consultants to assist in local matters.
This article is extremely relevant to business and political consultant everywhere. It illustrates that differentiation in specialty i.e. sources, traditions, cultural and religious issues, increases the need of third party involvement.
Dr. Gotvaran used a survey questioner to collect data: a total of 40 questions; 20 procedural questions, 20 specific questions. He sampled over 200 executives: 156 were directly involved in the project, 44 were general administrative managers. I believe that he selected the most appropriated method and achieved his goal of supporting his hypothesis,
Select one of these issues or problems and develop two hypotheses that could be tested using survey research design.
There is no correlation between western education and limitation in English based research.
